Entering a National Show and Getting in !

Two years ago, I flew to NYC with an artist friend who had been juried into the American Impressionist Society Annual Show. She had never been to New York and I told her I would go with her and that this was a huge honor to be juried into the show. I had been a member for several years, but had never participated in any of their events. So off we went to the Big Apple ! We allowed ourselves an extra two days to explore art galleries, art museums , small neighborhoods and the big city. The AIS show also included panel discussions, demos and a chance to meet some of Americans best impressionist artists. After viewing the exhibit, I promised myself that I would enter one of their future shows. I gained some confidence in my art and abilities by spending several hours studying the accepted art. Some of the works just blew me away, but others seemed on a par or maybe even not " as good" as some of my works. " You can do this Lynn !"
Because of the pandemic, AIS decided to help its artists get their art out to the public by having a first -ever virtual show for Associate Members. No shipping of accepted work, a low entrance fee.... I needed to goad myself to enter. Really, what did I have to lose. " You can do this Lynn !" I sent in three images, only one had a possibility of being picked as the rule was one painting per artist for the show. But I figured a had a better chance to get one in if I submitted three. "You can do this Lynn !"
After entering, I basically forgot all about it, really never thinking I would be juried in. As proforma, an email was sent to all artists who entered with a "click here " to see a list of all accepted artist. I clicked, again not expecting my name to be on the list.
"Holy Moley ! " There was my name ! I couldn't believe it ! I was accepted into my first American Impressionist Society show.
" You can do this Lynn !"
Today, I opened the on-line catalogue . There it was, my painting ! I have to say, it looks pretty good. I also have to say that I am very proud of myself for entering. It is a really good feeling to be recognized by some of the artists I admire the most.
